As I mentioned here before I’m looking at getting a bigger vehicle. I’ve been checking out autotrader and spotted something I might consider.
A 2017 Outback with 30k miles. It seems to be pretty heavily optioned. My wife and her family have bought 7 or 8 vehicles from this dealership and always had a good experience.
Heck, when we took my wife’s last Subaru there for recall work they let me drive the BRAT they keep on display around the back lot and I was allowed to sit in the 360 on the sales floor while we waited.
A question though. Does anyone have experience with the eyesight feature? How intrusive is it? Did you feel it worked well when used as adaptive cruise control? Does the lane keep warning and emergency braking work well , or is it just a nuisance that gets immediately shut off? They have a few other options without this package, but this one also has heated seats which I miss in my current car.

I found this one that seems like an even better deal. I had seen it on autotrader but thought there was a mistake in their ad when I found the first. Same color, same options, but less than 20k miles.

A limited for $25k seems like a fair deal.

I’ve had two loaners with it and I hate it. It works great, but it bugs the crap out of me. If I was getting a car for a teenaged kid , sure, fine. But I would never have a daily driver for myself with it.

I have n o direct experience with Eyesight, but from what I heard a lot of it works pretty well, some of it doesn’t. One thing I’ve seen on the forums is that a fair number of people disable the lane-keep assist, but I think it depends on your driving style and lane habits.
One thing to keep in mind with Eyesight is that if you need to replace the windshield, Subaru strongly recommends replacing it with OEM glass and re-calibrating the Eyesight cameras, which isn’t the cheapest thing in the world. I think this was more an issue in the earlier years as I believe some glass companies now are offering replacements with non-OEM glass and are able to calibrate the cameras themselves without the help of a Subaru service department. Just something to be aware of.

Autoweek did a Subaru article subtitled “stop hassling me man” by Kozak if I remember correctly. Ever notice the subie drivers always braking? If your car constantly beeps at you Id imagine youd drive rather nervously

CP. It’s easy to find these around $20,000.

Thanks for the extra information on the glass replacement. Given that between my wife and I we’ve needed two windshields replaced and a third repaired in the last few years it’s something to consider.

Constantly beeping at you or actively trying to step in? I wonder if it’s worse than any of the other systems. All I’ve really dealt with before was blind spot monitoring and one car with collision warning but not auto braking as a rental.

I had it in new Forester and one of the new 2020 Outbacks. In both cases pulling into a parking spot in the garage at work the car would shut off and stop about 2 feet from the concrete wall when I needed to roll up closer. I would have to turn the car back on to roll up closer. And then I would forget to set the stupid electric parking brake and have to turn on the car again to set the brake then turn it off again... Yes, I admit I am not a young buck, but jebus... just let me drive the d@mn car.
